My overall experience with Riverdale Manor was very good. When looking at some of the reviews I was a little scared, but the place is beautiful and they were more affordable than a lot of other sites we considered. Our planner was Maureen. Sometimes she seemed a little rushed, both in face to face meetings and e-mails (she sent me incorrect items sometimes). However, I never felt that she was being rude or inappropriate and she was quick to correct any mistakes in documents. Riverdale does have a lot of rules, but rest assured, it is because they know what they are doing. I did not feel that any of them were out of line. They are in place to protect you, your guests, and Riverdale's property. On the day of the rehearsal/dropping off non-perishables, we were running late and I was very frazzled. Maureen was very understanding and helped calm me down. Her and the officiant were able to run through the plan with time left over. Also, when we dropped off our centerpieces and decorations, Maureen realized they were more complicated than most of her clients so she allowed us to come in a little earlier the day of to get everything set up, which was a huge relief. The day of ran super smoothly. I was not aware of any issues, the decorations looked great, the ceremony went well, and the reception was a blast! Maureen and her assistant checked in a few times and they were very friendly and helped guide us when we weren't sure what to do next. I never felt like either of them were rude or condescending.
If you're thinking of choosing Riverdale, don't let the bad reviews scare you off. Keep in mind the rules are there for good reason and they know what they are doing.

We had our ceremony at a nearby church and held the reception at Riverdale. Although we had to push back our wedding date in order to get this venue, it was well worth it! Throughout the planning process, Maureen made it incredibly easy. She was always available to contact when I had questions and was always accommodating, no matter how little the question. She definitely knows what she wants so sometimes you have to fight a little harder for what you want- but she is the professional for a reason, she knows what she's doing.
Our dinner was station style and that was a huge hit! People loved being able to choose whatever food they wanted, and getting as much as they wanted. The food was all delicious- we got so many compliments from people that it was better than normal wedding food. We had the dessert bar in addition to a small cake and cut and holy cow, the dessert bar is well worth it! People rushed towards it once it was announced and couldn't get enough.
Everything about the night ran so smoothly. Either Maureen or her assistant were there all night and constantly checked in with myself, my husband and my parents to ensure that everything was going well. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone at Riverdale. We have been to 2 weddings in addition to ours here and it was always a positive experience. We actually requested one of the bartenders from a previous wedding because they were so much fun! I suggest to all brides to get vendors that you can trust to do their job because it makes planning much less stressful. I never once doubted that things would run smoothly at Riverdale Manor.

Riverdale Manor did an amazing job coordinating our wedding. Everything was perfect, the food, the space, the employees. We got so many compliments on our wedding day. Also, the outside vendors we used, recommended by Maureen, were amazing as well. Couldn't ask for more, would recommend this place very highly!!

We had a wonderful experience at Riverdale. We had Monica as our consultant and she could not have been more helpful throughout the whole process and really kept things running smoothly the day of the wedding. She helped keep this a stress-free day for everyone. All the employees were very helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend this venue - we could not have been more pleased and we had many compliments from guests regarding the venue.

Riverdale Manor is an amazing venue and my husband and I are so happy we chose to have our wedding and reception there. When looking for a venue, we knew we wanted to have the ceremony outside, but we also worried about rain. Riverdale was the best option for us because it has a beautiful pavilion. if it rained, we knew we would still be able to have a lovely outdoor ceremony.
Riverdale is a beautiful place, and Maureen (our planner) was extremely helpful, quick to respond, and friendly as we were planning for the big day. My husband and I felt extremely secure knowing that she would be "in charge" during the wedding.
Our wedding went extremely smoothly and we had no hiccups or last minute questions. We were able to truly enjoy the day and be present in the moment because we knew the Riverdale staff was taking care of all the details and timeline behind the scenes.
The venue is beautiful, food is great, and overall this is a wonderful place to celebrate your marriage.

First I have to say that I had an absolutely amazing wedding day at Riverdale Manor. HOWEVER, I feel there are things that other brides should be aware of prior to booking their wedding at this venue. First, after signing a contract with Riverdale, I proceeded to book a baker to make my cake... only to find out that they don't allow this specific bakery to bake cakes at their venue (was never made aware of this beforehand, so this was clearly a breach of contract). I had to go find another bakery at that point. Then, they were extremely argumentative about our appetizer menu. They added things to our invoice that we had never agreed upon, and then accused me of calling them unprofessional by inquiring as to why they were adding things without my permission, at which point they told me that my bill was reflective of what THEY thought was best, and not what I, as the bride, wanted. Then, my wedding planner through the venue decided to basically "fire" us & handed us over to another wedding planner, FOUR weeks before the wedding! Her reasoning was that we disagreed with her opinions & didn't trust her judgement. I cannot believe that when you are in a business like this, that it is acceptable to "fire" clients when they don't agree with your opinion.
Their emails were unprofessional, and they even made unprofessional comments to me regarding other vendors which is entirely inappropriate. Maureen was very condescending to my parents & bridesmaids on the day of my wedding.
We met with Riverdale & went over EVERYTHING the day before our wedding, including where we wanted items placed on different tables, and clearly they couldn't even follow those directions. The plates & forks we were supposed to use weren't even on our table! Despite telling us that they would put our centerpieces together for us, when we got there on the day of the wedding, they were completely a mess, and my mom & bridesmaids needed to go fix them (2 hours before the wedding!).
The only redeeming factor was the delicious food. BUT, brides beware of the above issues.

My daughter's reception was held this past weekend at Riverdale and I can't say enough of how wonderful the entire experience was. Monica was a joy to work with and kept everything on track while always being very pleasant. The whole staff was wonderful. We revceived many compliments on the food. We picked all of the other vendors off of their prefered list which made everything run very smoothly. I would highly recommend all, Petals with Style (Flowers were amazing), DJ Freez (Entertainment), Nathan Desch (Photographer) and Bella Manse (Cake). What really sets Riverdale apart is the fact that it is not a per person charge. You can tailor everything to how much or how little you would like to spend. My daughter got married at our church, but if you would like to get married there the grounds right on the river are gorgeous. You will not regret it if you decide on Riverdale Manor!

Riverdale Manor was the most beautiful place to have our wedding and reception. Despite having some rain the day before, we were able to move our ceremony into the gazebo. At first I was upset to not have it on the grounds, but the gazebo was better than I could have imagined. The twinkling lights and flowers added to its charm. Every special item I brought was perfectly set up by the staff. Our food was delicious as well. All of our guests said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Also, you can provide your own alcohol which is a big saver because you can buy what you want to have served. The staff and our coordinator, Monica, were absolutely incredible. They were warm, friendly, and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend any couple to have their ceremony and reception at Riverdale Manor because it will be beyond your expectations!!!

Everything at Riverdale was perfect, Monica and her staff took care of so much for us so we weren't running around the day of. They were very accommodating and made sure everything was exactly as we requested. The venue is absolutely beautiful and we knew almost immediately that this would be the perfect place to get married.

Riverdale Manor is one of the most gorgeous venues in central PA. They helped me throughout the whole process and were always quick to respond to any questions I had. The day of my wedding I didn't have to worry about a thing even though there was massive flooding all over PA. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional! I would recommend Riverdale Manor to anyone looking for a beautiful location for a ceremony and/or reception.

I recommend Riverdale Manor to the fullest extent possible! My husband and I got married there a month ago and we still can't stop talking about how perfect the day was. The grounds are stunning, the food is delicious, and THE STAFF was just tremendous at every turn. Maureen, the owner, did the day-of coordination for our event and she now stands as superhuman in my eyes. I've always wished for the ability to be in several different places at once--don't we all?--but Maureen somehow made that a reality, and did so with a contagiously Zen demeanor and humorous disposition the entire time. She truly went above and beyond to make sure our wedding went off without a hitch. She shared her expertise with bustling trains, pinning boutonnieres, wrangling vendors and family members -- all things that one shouldn't expect of their wedding coordinator, but which she went above and beyond to do without being asked. Whenever I needed something, I didn't even need to call for her--she was already there by my side, anticipating what I would need next! The catering staff were also just wonderful -- attentive, cheerful, and so incredibly helpful in every possible way. It takes a truly special establishment to create the kind of personal, beautiful, thoughtfully managed events that Riverdale does, and they have nailed this art down to perfection. I promise that if you decide to hold your wedding or other event here at Riverdale, you'll be delighted with your decision.

We had our ceremony and reception at Riverdale Manor. The location by the river for our ceremony was beautiful, and the pavilion and reception hall were perfect for our family and friends to enjoy our big day. Our coordinator Monica did an amazing job and was very prompt with her communication and answered all of our questions. Monica and the Riverdale staff worked hard to bring to life the vision we had for our wedding. They set everything up for us, and it was exactly as we had imagined it. They even took everything down and boxed it up for us at the end of the night. The food was delicious, and Monica and the staff checked on us to make sure we had what needed throughout the day. We truly got to relax and enjoy our special day because of their hard work and professionalism. We would highly recommend this venue!

We visited 7 venues before going to Riverdale Manor, and me and my now husband knew automatically it was the one. It is beautiful, and it has the rustic feel we were going for. We worked with Monica, and I could not have asked for a better coordinator. She was always calm and organized. She kept our planning on track and made our wedding smooth and organized. Several people told us the wedding was "flawless" and I know this is thanks to Monica and the staff. At the wedding, the staff was professional and went above and beyond to make sure guests (and us!) had everything they needed. I would recommend Riverdale to my family and close friends. I wish we could do it all again!

Riverdale Manor was the perfect spot for our July 21st wedding. We had an outdoor wedding down by the river, which was nice and shady to keep everyone cool on a hot day. After the wedding, we had a cocktail hour and then a lovely reception.
Monica was our wedding coordinator, and made everything run smoothly from start to finish. She answered all of my questions very quickly, and worked with us to ensure that we were prepared for our big day. Once you give her the vendor names and contact info, you don't have to worry about running interference with the vendors - she does that for you! On the day of the wedding, we had absolutely no stress. When there was an issue with the DJ announcing us in the wrong order, Monica took care of it quickly.
The food was also phenomenal. We had the mahi-mahi and beef tenderloin, both of which were actually much better on the wedding day than during the taste test.
Overall, I'd give this venue more than 5 stars if I could. We received so many compliments on our wedding.. you won't be disappointed!

Riverdale was an amazing venue for a wedding, it's no wonder the wait list was so long. The staff was helpful and professional throughout the entire process. I've never heard so many compliments on wedding food in my life! We choose stations to give everyone multiple options. Also, we wanted to be outside and Riverdale gave you multiple options to have your ceremony and cocktail hour outside without having to be forced into a small area. I'd recommend the location to anyone

We worked with Troy at Riverdale and he was wonderful. Our whole day was flawless and he made sure everything went according to plan. It's a beautiful place and everyone there is so kind and they make your dreams come true. They also make sure you actually eat on your wedding day. The food is phenomenal!! Highly highly recommend them.

I cannot count the amount of compliments we have received from guests on our venue and they only solidified the way my husband and I feel. We searched high and low for the perfect combination of rustic and elegance and we found it in Riverdale.
We were able to rent the venue from 2:30pm until 11pm and have complete use of the farmhouse, reception hall, pavilion and grounds. There are two suits, a bridal and a groom, in the farmhouse so we were able to dress and spend time preparing onsite. We were also able to have a private toast with our bridal party following the reception in the main hall of the farmhouse. The reception hall is in a refinished barn with high ceilings and exposed beams, and we chose to get married in the adjoining pavilion which allowed for the outside feel we wanted while still protecting guests from sunburn or potential rain. The patio was used for the cocktail hour and guests were able to roam the grounds by the creek and around the venue. It was beautiful.
Beyond the beauty of it all was the execution of the event. We worked with Troy and he could not have been better. I tease that I do not know anyone else in my life who responds to emails faster than he does, and with such detail! I often felt like we were the only wedding the he was coordinating because of the attention we received. We changed our menu about 5 times and he never made us feel silly for doing so. He was incredibly helpful in finding the balance between our foodie nature and our wallet.
The entire staff even beyond Troy was wonderful, as well. Every detail was handled with the utmost professionalism and precision. For instance, we brought our decorations in the day before our wedding and when we arrived on the wedding day everything was displayed to perfection.
Choosing Riverdale was one of the best decisions we made during the entire wedding planning process!

Could not have been happier with how everything turned out. Not only is the venue incredible, you don't have to worry about a thing going wrong the day of. Our wedding ran perfectly on time, as did the reception. Also, the food is outstanding! Beyond delicious!

AMAZING! Every part of the process was meticulously and professionally handled by a wedding coordinator that they provide for you, and I felt as if I and my wedding was their #1 priority. The event was PERFECT and I could not have chosen a more beautiful venue, with delicious food and plenty of room for all my 120 guests.

The property is absolutely gorgeous- full of natural beauty. It makes for a beautiful picture location. One thing I didn't like is the bride and groom cannot get ready on site because you're not allowed to arrive until 2 hours prior to the start of your event. Another good thing about Riverdale is they will set up all of the decorations for you. You supply your own alcohol which saves a lot of money. Also, the meal choices are ala carte style so you can spend a lot or a little depending on your budget. Overall, we were very pleased with the venue.
